Pittsburgh Railways - PCC 1111

Photo #49

  • PCC #1111 is on a fan-trip displaying the no longer in use Route 78-Snooders Switch at the Carnegie loop on February 2, 1958. However in actuality PCC cars never ran on Route 78-Snooders Switch

  • This fan-trip was part of a tour that started in the West End of Pittsburgh in the morning and ended with a ride through the East End of Pittsburgh in the afternoon

  • Snodders Switch, or siding, on the Oakmont-Verona line was used by the double-end cars {such as the 4200 series Trolley} and was gradually cut back to a short shuttle line by 1939 only to be abandoned at a latter date

  • PCC #1111 was built by the St. Louis Car Co. in 1937
