Mary McCarthy the Ethel Rosenberg of 2006!
Archy McNally
Priest in November wrote several stories on the CIA’s alleged secret prisons in Eastern Europe which in turn caused a world wide up-roar and severely damaged US National Security.
On Monday, April 4, 2006 Priest garnered a Pulitzer Prize for her reporting on the CIA’s alleged secret prisons. McCarthy made more than a dozen unauthorized contacts with Priest and information about subjects other than the prisons may have been leaked as well.
McCarthy stated her long-time bureaucratic career in 1984 as an analyst in the Directorate of Intelligence of the Central Intelligence Agency.
In 1991-1994 she served as Deputy National Intelligence Officer for Warning.
In 1994-1996 she served as the National Intelligence Officer for Warning.
After her stint as National Intelligence Officer for Warning she served as Director of Intelligence Programs on the National Security Council Staff under President Clinton.
In 1998-2000 she was appointed by then National Security Advisor Sandy "stuff that classified information down my pants" Berger as Special Assistant to President Clinton and Senior Director for Intelligence Programs.
In McCarthy's final position at the CIA, she was assigned to its Office of Inspector General, looking into allegations the CIA was involved in torture at Iraqi prisons.
Mary McCarthy’s waterloo was letting her personal and political beliefs as well as her anti-Bush attitude interfere with her responsibilities as a trusted high-level intelligence officer at the CIA. Mary McCarthy betrayed America. The Ethel Rosenberg of 2006 will be Mary McCarthy’s legacy.
